Well...
If they labled it "20% fat" would you think that sounded healthy?
20% fat is pretty high.

80% lean ground beef isn't bad, but it depends on your fat intake for the day. If you are making hamburgers a lot of that fat will run off during the cooking process.

It would be okay on keto... personally I can't fit that into my macros with supplementing fish oil + cla + a few nuts. Only lean meats for me these days.

If he fits 80% lean meat into his macros... its perfectly fine. CUTTING or NOT!
If you still believe it, do some research on the keto diet. Here is my pics thread. I lost a good amount of bodyfat and put on some good muscle in a short amount of time.

How? 65-70% of ALL of my calories were from FAT!
Let me repeat myself.... 70% FAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's just a myth, one of the many you will soon learn around here. You need to be open to people's advice.

Yeah but I think a lot of you fail to understand that a 80% burger is going to have MANY MORE CALORIES then a 95% burger.
Have you ever actually read the nutritional label for an 80% burger? It is ridiculously loaded and calorie dense, and the protein in it is minimal, which makes it a poor choice for a cut, especially if you're cutting and having trouble controlling how much you eat.
A lean burger would be a much better choice.
It's not because their is a lot of fat in the burger that it is a bad choice, but every gram of fat has 9 calories vs. a gram of protein or a carb which has 4.
See what i'm getting at?
You people that jump on the "FAT IS AWESOME, EAT POUNDS OF FAT A DAY" bandwagon are just as bad as the "OMG AVOID ALL FAT" people.
"There are forty million poor people...why are there forty million poor people in America? And when...you ask that question, you are raising questions about the economic system, about a broader distribution of wealth. When you ask that question you begin to question the capitalistic economy."
"We are called upon to help the discouraged beggars in life's marketplace. But one day we must come to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring."

When I got the leanest beef possible, sure its going to have less calories but it can be as much as twice the price.
With 80% or so... its much cheaper and on the george foreman grill, it seems like a lot of that fat drips out anyway...
maybe I'm wrong and the fat content remains it seems like quite a bit of it cooks off anyway???
I mean... those nutrition labels are before cooking right? I have to assume a lot of that fat gets cooked away. I have to empty that drip tray it's so full every time.

i hope the labels are before cooking. i also hope the foreman gets rid a a decent amount of the fat, cuz the burgers i buy are the cheapest frozen ones i can get at wal-mart, so im sure they have a lot.
i weigh so little cuz i have tiny legs (yes, i know, i need to work on them), so no making fun
if it ain't sore, lift some more

foreman grill will only do so much. I buy in bulk at costco or the $15 stuff at walmart. they sell 93 and 95 lean in bulk for good prices.
Since this was posted yesterday I hope you at a burger. It's not going to kill you. Hop on the cardio for an extra 5 or 10 minutes and your good. If you don't go over your daily intake amounts you will be fine.
This isn't an argument over lean beef, its about eating a burger. It might not have occured to you but you could have had pops cook up a piece of chicken for ya. He might razz ya a little but then he cooks and you eat.

the price difference means it cooks down less, = more protein. you might as well go ahead and buy the lean. better yet get some lean steak and a 20 dollar meat grinder and grind it yourself. the 80/20 has tons of scrap in it.

I actually just looked at the nutrition facts for an 80/20 patty (roommate brought it home) and a 1/4 lb patty has 30g fat and 29 g protein I believe. Might have been 27 g protein, but I'm sure about the 30 g fat.
